Part One: Getting to Know Cera Colors

Hello there Cera Colors!!!

In the spirit of creative courage, I've been exploring them. 

I was offered the opportunity to explore three tubes and give some feedback on the merits of the product.  (Did you know word "Cera" means wax in Italian & Spanish?) 

After a few days with them, I can tell you for certain they are now a staple in my toolbox.

Thank you ArtPost Supplies and Studios for encouraging me to try them. 
Over the next 4 posts, I will share how I have used them. Please tell me what you think about the product as well. You know where to find the comments...at the bottom, yup.

The properties of this product are different in application from traditional encaustic products right off the bat. Encaustic pigmented products are usually in cake form. CeraColors are packaged in tubes like water color or oil paints. 

Am I about to use these in the same manner as cold wax artists? Or do I need my favorite source of heating utensil and  some ventilation? Well. Both. Or neither. 

Let me prepare the substrate first.

The image on the left shows a printed copy of my sketch laid on top of the birch substrate with with a layer of beeswax. The second shows light imprint of areas ready to  Meet my new best friends. Let's introduce them.

Cadmium Red, Daride Yellow, Ultramarine Blue.  Hello there, let's get to work. But before we do, let me do one mor elittle thing to help demonstrate the product.
